On May 21-22, 2026, the 8th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Azerbaijan on economic and trade cooperation was held in Baku, Azerbaijan, under the co-chairmanship of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Usmonzoda Usmonali Yunusali, and the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Honorable Samir Sharifov. The Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan, Rahmonalizoda Farhodshoh Rahmonali, participated in its work.

On the sidelines of the meeting of the above-mentioned Commission, an official ceremony of signing a number of bilateral documents on strategic cooperation was held.

Within its framework, the "Memorandum of Understanding on the Establishment of the Tajikistan-Azerbaijan Working Council" was signed between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO) by the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Rahmonalizoda Farhodshoh Rahmonali and the Executive Director of AZPROMO Yusif Abdulloev.

The parties stated during the signing of the document that the establishment of the Working Council will provide a new institutional basis for the transition from seasonal relations to stable and permanent cooperation.
