In 2005, a Legal Support Center for the development of permanent arbitration institutions and international commercial arbitration was established under the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan.

As a result of its work, a new version of the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan "On Arbitration Courts" was adopted in 2008.

By Resolution No. 804 of the Assembly of Representatives (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of the Supreme Assembly (Majlisi Oli) of the Republic of Tajikistan, dated May 31, 2012, the Republic of Tajikistan acceded to the 1958 UN Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards (the New York Convention) and the 2002 Chisinau Convention, with a reservation regarding disputes concerning real estate.

Subsequently, on March 18, 2015, the adoption of the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan "On International Commercial Arbitration" established a legal framework governing international commercial arbitration—including the recognition and enforcement of awards rendered by international arbitration institutions—and led to the creation of an International Commercial Arbitration center under the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The most significant advantage of the International Commercial Arbitration center under the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan, compared to state courts, is that its awards are enforceable in virtually all countries that have signed the UN Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards (the New York Convention).
