Chamber Dialogue with UN Agencies Focuses on Improving Private Sector Access to Finance

Dushanbe, September 2, 2026 — The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan hosted a consultative meeting bringing together representatives of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Tajikistan, the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF), and members of the country’s business community to discuss ways to improve access to finance for the private sector.

The meeting was opened by N.N. Anvarov, First Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In his opening remarks, he noted that the Chamber brings together more than 1,200 private-sector representatives and serves as an important platform for fostering business partnerships and cooperation, including with international organizations.

The Chamber places particular emphasis on promoting dialogue among the business community, government institutions and development partners, with the aim of creating a more enabling environment for entrepreneurship and private sector growth.

The consultation brought together representatives of agricultural and agro-industrial enterprises, information technology and construction companies, as well as businesses operating in Tajikistan’s tourism sector.

Participants exchanged views on a range of issues affecting access to finance, including key constraints and specific challenges faced by young entrepreneurs, rural businesses and enterprises seeking to invest in green solutions.

The consultations form part of a broader effort in Tajikistan to gather insights from the private sector and identify practical solutions to financing constraints. The findings will contribute to the development by UNCDF of practical recommendations for financial institutions, government authorities, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and development partners on measures to improve private sector access to finance.

Closing the meeting, N.N. Anvarov, First Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, expressed hope that the consultations with UNCDF and UNDP would contribute to improving access to finance for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and support the continued development of Tajikistan’s private sector.

He emphasized that expanding access to finance is a critical enabler of business growth, job creation, income generation and economic diversification, and highlighted its importance for strengthening the contribution of the private sector to Tajikistan’s sustainable economic development.
