On 7 July 2026, the Second Meeting of the Tajikistan–Turkmenistan Business Council was held at the Hyatt Regency Dushanbe Hotel under the co-chairmanship of Farhodshoh Rahmonali Rahmonalizoda, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan, and Mergen Meretdurdiyevich Gurdov, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan. The event was held as part of the practical implementation of agreements reached between the top leaders of both countries – the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Honorable Emomali Rahmon, and the President of Turkmenistan, the Honorable Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
The meeting was attended by more than 35 authorized representatives of Turkmenistan, including government officials and representatives from a wide range of the private sector, including the management and representatives of 20 leading companies and enterprises in Turkmenistan. Representatives of the Tajik side were represented at the meeting by the Ministries of Economic Development and Trade, Agriculture, Industry, the State Committees for Investment and State Property Management, Tourism Development, and the Customs Service, the leadership of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Sughd and Khatlon Regions, as well as a wide range of representatives from the country's private sector, including chamber members.
F. Rahmonalizoda opened the meeting with an opening speech, noting that thanks to the wise and far-sighted policies of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Honorable Emomali Rahmon, and the President of the Republic of Turkmenistan, the Honorable Serdar Berdimuhamedov, friendly and economic relations between the countries have reached a qualitatively new level, creating favorable conditions for attracting major foreign investment and developing the private sector.
Rahmonalizoda F.R. spoke about the activities and achievements of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan and the current state of bilateral economic cooperation, noting that, despite the strong growth trend in bilateral trade, there is enormous untapped potential for increasing trade between the countries.
In his speech, Gurdov M.M. expressed gratitude for the warm welcome from the Tajik side and called for the full commitment of Turkmenistan's business community to expand cooperation and effectively utilize the opportunities offered by this Business Council. He also emphasized that major industrial, chemical, and logistics companies in Turkmenistan are interested in strengthening direct ties with Tajik businessmen and implementing joint investment projects in the Republic of Tajikistan.
As part of the meeting's program, representatives of our country presented Tajikistan's investment opportunities, the privileges of free economic zones (FEZs), and the potential of the tourism sector through presentations. The Turkmen side also presented its country's transport, logistics, and investment potential to the participants through industry-specific presentations.
The meeting concluded with direct and effective B2B meetings between business circles from both countries.
